Nigeria’s 55th Independence Day Anniversary … Chapter and Verses … Change Starts with Me!

Good People! Great Nation!! Beautiful Nigeria!!!

We celebrate our Nation at 55! We also wonder … Do you Know Nigeria?

Lets us talk about Nigeria. Do you know Nigeria and how blessed we are?

Nigeria, an African country on the Gulf of Guinea is known for its natural landmarks and wildlife reserves. Safari destinations such as Cross River National Park and Yankari National Park showcase waterfalls, dense rainforest, savanna and rare primate habitats. One of its most recognizable sites is Zuma Rock, a 725m-tall monolith outside the capital of Abuja. Zuma Rock is pictured on the national currency – The Naira.

Do you know the Nigeria National Anthem? Can you recite it?

Arise, O Compatriots” is the national anthem of Nigeria.

It was adopted in 1978 and replaced the previous anthem, Nigeria, We Hail Thee. The lyrics are a combination of words and phrases taken from five of the best entries in a national contest. The words were put to music by the Nigerian Police Band under the directorship of Benedict E. Odiase. We will recite 4 versions … whether you are English, Yoruba, Hausa or Ibo; There is something for you. We are WAZOBIA though colonized by the English.

… English

Arise, O compatriots, Nigeria’s call obey.

To serve our fatherland, With love and strength and faith.

The labour of our heroes past, Shall never be in vain.

To serve with heart and might, One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.

Second stanza …

Oh God of creation, direct our noble cause; Guide our leader’s right; Help our youth the truth to know

In love and honesty to grow, and living just and true

Great lofty heights attain; to build a nation where peace and justice shall reign

Ibo: …

Arise O, Compatriot it says … Preparation …

Obey the clarion call … Obey the call to change. Obey the call to be the change that you seek. Be the Change that you seek … wherever you may find yourself …

This is the burden of Freedom …Independence …The Responsibility that comes with Freedom and Nigeria will RISE AGAIN!!!
